How to Conceive a Son - Learn 3 Methods to Follow When Trying For a Boy

Posted: 16 Dec 2009 10:05 AM PST

At some point or another, you would like to have a choice in having a baby girl, or baby boy. Here you are going to learn some tips on how to conceive a son, that many people have used for years, one of them for almost a thousand.

There are 3 very popular methods when trying to get pregnant:

1. Shettles Method

This method states that the male sperm travels faster than the female sperm, so has a better chance of reaching the egg first.

This is done by timing intercourse with ovulation. Since the male sperm dies quicker, and swims faster, you want to make sure that the egg has already dropped when trying to conceive.

This means, do not have sex with in the first 24 hrs of the ovulation cycle, if you do, you may more than likely have a girl. It is said to wait until about 12 hrs after the egg has dropped to have sex, this gives the faster moving boys a better chance to get to the egg first, and fertilize it.

2. Whelan Method

The Whelan method stands at the direct opposite of the Shettles method.

If you want a boy, have sex 4 - 6 days before ovulation. And closer to ovulation (2 - 4 days) if you want a girl.

Try different sexual positions that offer a great penetration rate than normal, this will allow the male sperm to have a head start and get to the egg.

The success rate of the Whelan Method is about 68% for boys, and 57% for girls. This is said to be to close to the actual 50/50 to be of any use. Yet you never know, it might just be fun to try, right?

3. The Chinese Birth Chart

This basically involves a chart that is said to be at least 700 years old.

What this chart does is takes the age of the woman, based on the Chinese lunar year, and get her Chinese age. Then it corresponds with a month, and depending on how old the woman is, and which month it is, will determine if it will be a boy or girl.

So there you have it, 3 totally different methods when you are learning how to conceive a son. You've got the Shettles method, and Whelan method, which both require you to know the ovulation cycle. And then you've got the ancient Chinese Birth Chart, something that most people will say is off the wall. I think it's time that you decide with one is for you, remember, you are always going to have lots of fun trying.

Does the Woman Being on Top During Intercourse Produce a Boy Baby? That Depends - Here's Why

Posted: 16 Dec 2009 09:54 AM PST

I was recently asked this question and the person asking this had already attempted to conceive using this method. She wanted to produce a boy baby and was wondering if her attempt (and the positioning that she used) made this more or less likely. I will explain why the woman being on top during intercourse can sometimes work either way (especially since I didn't know any of the other variables at play) in the following article.

How Intercourse Positions Are One Thing That Can Influence Baby Gender. (And How The Woman Being On Top Fits Into This Equation:) The person who wrote the email only told me one of the techniques that she used in her quest to get a son. All I knew was the sexual position that she had used. She was right that this could affect baby gender. But, this is only one out of three variables.

However in terms of sexual positioning, there are really two things to consider. You want to consider the depth of the penetration and also whether or not the woman has an orgasm. If you want a boy baby, your goal should be deeper penetration or closer proximity to the cervix. This is because the sperm that produces male babies is weaker and doesn't survive as long. So in terms of helping the odds along, deeper penetration does help.

But, the woman on top positioning allows for a lot of variations. The woman can basically control whether the penetration is shallow or not. If the woman wants a boy baby, she would be much better off positioning herself so that her cervix is closer to the sperm deposit. In terms of having an orgasm, this is under your control as well. For a son, the woman should have an orgasm because the fluids that are produced by the woman during this process makes her vaginal tract more alkaline.

This helps increase your odds of success because boy producing sperm thrive in alkaline surroundings while girl producing sperm thrives in acidic surroundings. (That's why if you want a daughter, the woman should avoid orgasm if she is trying to conceive.) The woman who sent the email did not give me very much information so I had no way of knowing which category best described her. Also, the optimal sexual position for deep penetration is going to vary depending on you and your partner. Sometimes, the female on top positions are not the best way to accomplish this. You might also consider rear entry of using a pillow to elevate and angle your hips.

Having An Orgasm Is Not The Only Thing That Helps With Being Alkaline: While the woman having an orgasm can help you with your lessening your acidity, it's only one way, and, for the most part, it's not as effective as some other methods. You can usually change your PH and acidity level (to become more alkaline) by either changing your diet (only temporarily, until you become pregnant), or using douches that often require more specific ingredients than what you would buy over the counter in your local grocery store. If you are really motivated, you can combine all of these methods (along with orgasm) to give you the highest degree of success.

Another thing that is important is precisely when you conceive. (Again, I did not have this information from the person who asked this question.) For a boy, you want to conceive right as ovulation occurs. So, since I do not know her time line or her acidity, I have no way of knowing if she met the other two variables which help you produce a boy. But, she was right that sexual positions do play a role somewhat. However, since I had so little information, I could not form an opinion as to whether her odds were increased or not.

Miscarriage Help? Finding Miscarriage Help is Difficult But There is Hope

Posted: 15 Dec 2009 06:41 PM PST

If you've ever had a miscarriage you know how disheartening it can be. Only after having a miscarriage did I truly understand how much it can affect your life and your relationship. Many women are looking for a little miscarriage help so that they might avoid another frustrating and demoralizing miscarriage.

Being a little older now and finally ready to get pregnant again (the first time around was unplanned although my then boyfriend and now husband were very happy to welcome a baby to our lives), I wonder how likely it is that I might have another miscarriage. So I started researching for miscarriage help in whatever form it might take. I really wanted something that was realistic, inexpensive and that worked, because I didn't want to waste another three or four months of my life only to have another miscarriage. My first step was to try and understand some of the main causes of miscarriage.

The most basic statistics about miscarriage made me want to cry! They made me think that I would most likely not carry a healthy child to term. The likeliness of having a miscarriage goes up the older you get so when I looked at the stats for 40+ I was devastated. 35% of women between the ages of 40-41 have a miscarriage and 20% of women between the ages of 35-39 do.

I really wanted some miscarriage help so that I could avoid being one of those statistics. I didn't find much in traditional medicine that would solve my miscarriage problem, except for surgeries or drugs.

Keeping an open mind about all possibilities has led me to the holistic or natural area of miscarriage help.

The standard medical practices or the American Medical Association really just have a few things to "treat" infertility and really don't offer much as far as miscarriage "help'. I didn't want to take drugs with side effects, go through painful and expensive procedures that sometimes cause miscarriage or monitor my ovulation for months and months before I could safely get pregnant again and have a reasonable chance to take the baby to term.

How to Know If You Are Infertile and What to Do About It

Posted: 15 Dec 2009 05:49 PM PST

Chances are that if you have had problems getting pregnant after some time of trying, the thought of whether you can really have children has past your mind. You will surely question why, or what's wrong and wonder whether you could be infertile. You ask, what is infertility and what can we do about it? Your dream of having children may never happen you think. Your emotions can get the best of you and you become despondent, mad, totally stressed and go into despair. Don't let that happen to you. Learn everything you can on this; knowledge is power and can really help you put things into perspective.

First realize that over 7 million couples at any given time are going through this too, concerning infertility issues. It is much more common that you may think with over 12% of of women of age having difficulty conceiving a child. Of course the issue can lay with either partner, with about 50% due to the female, 40% the male partner and the balance typically unexplained. So the good news is that you are not alone in this and because it is such a large problem, much has been accomplished in natural and medical treatment therapies.

Now, how can you tell whether you may be infertile? Just because you have not become pregnant does not necessarily mean you are infertile. There is a high probability that there is no problem, other that timing relative to your ovulation cycle. Your chances of becoming pregnant during any given cycle is only about 1%. Not very good odds, but you have 12 times or so a year it can happen, so keep on trying. Most couples, in fact close to 90%, will conceive within the first year of trying. Again it's all in the timing.

If after one year of consistently trying without birth control, you still have not become pregnant, you may have infertility issues. This is the normal definition of infertility, that is, not conceiving after 12 months of working at it. So that answers your question--what is infertility? However, there is much more to it. Here are some indications on whether you may be infertile.

For females, the chances of infertility relate directly to several factors, including age, lifestyle, and disease. If you are over 35 you can still become pregnant, but the probably drops off dramatically. If you have an extreme weight issue (either obese or too thin), you smoke or use drugs, you have a poor diet, have a STD, or you are over emotional and stressed, you have factors working against your pregnancy. Likewise if you experience irregular or no menstrual cycles or extreme pain during periods you have further signs of potential problems. In fact, ovulation issues are one of the main factors identified with infertility.

Also any one of several diseases you may have heard of may play a roll, including PID or pelvic inflammation disease, PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, fallopian tube issues and others concerns, such as hormonal issues. Sometimes you will be able to identify these yourself by their obvious symptoms, but more than likely these will be discovered during exams and testing.

The probability of infertility in men is associated directly with lifestyle, health and disease also. Again, contributing factors include age, smoking, alcohol, drugs, diet and exercise. Also any current disease or past medical therapies such as radiation or chemo could have an influence. The major problems usually are hormonal or sperm related, such as count and shape.

So if either partner is honest concerning any of these factors, they will each have at least meaningful indicators of whether infertility should be of concern. What should you do? Build your knowledge base on infertility, keep trying using a good kit, and finally, if still no pregnancy, get a medical check up. Of course, only medical diagnosis will actually answer the question and must be undertaken by both partners. Usually the male first, as it is easier, with a physical and sperm analysis. The female testing typically includes ovulation and temperature testing, fallopian tube x-rays or ultrasound, and possibly laproscopy, followed by more extensive diagnosis if necessary.

This information has hopefully put you on the right track, but you should find out everything you can related to infertility, including signs and symptoms, specifics on diseases, stats, treatment options (natural, herbal, acupuncture and medical), costs, insurance and so on. Our websites can help. You will then be in a better position to consider your options and finally get pregnant.
