The other day, I received an email from someone who asked me, in part: "so my understanding is that in order to get a boy baby, I should eat high acid foods, but what types of foods are in this category?" Before I started listing foods, I had to tell her that she had the assumption mostly wrong. It's really not acidic foods that you want to include for a son. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I'll discuss this more in the following article.

Why You Really Want To Eat Alkaline Foods If You're Trying To Have A Boy Baby: Here is why you don't want to eat acidic foods. An acidic environment if very rough and sometimes deadly for boy sperm. I'm specifically talking about the Y chromosomes which, when pared with your egg, will produce a boy. One of the ways that people who are trying for girl babies accomplish this is to make their PH very high. This is not what you are going for. You want an alkaline environment which means making good use of either alkaline foods or alkaline douches or both.

So What Types Of Foods Should You Be Eating If You Want A Son, Then?: I often tell people that the boy diet is a much healthier one than the girl diet. That's because many fruits and vegetables have a low pH, while meats, dairy, processed foods, and sweets tend to have a higher pH. Some fruits and vegetables are lower in pH than others though. Examples of good ones are green beans, carrots, spinach, celery, lettuce, asparagus, tomato, lemon, lime, and watermelon.

However, if you really want to get specific about this, some foods are alkaline when you consume them but they then become acidic when your body goes to digest them. This process is quite individual for most people. I recommend getting PH testing strips, consuming the foods that generally have a low PH and then testing yourself after this to make sure that they are reacting the way that they are supposed to.

If all of this food business seems too complicated and frustrating (it isn't all that bad) then you can try douching with different ingredients and testing in the same way to see what works best for you. But know that once you test your reaction to a food, you don't have to repeat it, you only need to make a note of it.

Timing Vs. PH: (Or Combining Both:) Sometimes, people ask me if they can abandon the whole PH thing and concentrate instead on just trying to conceive on the day of ovulation as this is also favorable to getting a son. I absolutely advocate getting your timing down (and using a good ovulation predictor), but I don't think that one or the other of these things absolutely works all alone. Sure, you will up your odds but doesn't it make sense to do all you can? It's not that much more trouble to do both of these at once.

And, if you can add in one more task, you can also try to use deep penetration when you have sex or intercourse. This is said to give the Y sperm a slight advantage and of course every little bit helps.

4 Key Points to a Full C Section Recovery

So how do you get the best recovery outcome for your C Section?

  1. Walking - is the fastest way to heal your wound. It improves circulation and stimulates the healing process. After the 1st day of delivery, walk around 4 times a day and work up to walking around every hour. Try to stand tall and pull your tummy muscles in. Then as you feel stronger, go for an outdoor walk for 30mins. Do not do housework as it may involve unintentional twisting or turning and consequently tearing of your wound.
  2. Abdominal support - You could hold a pillow against your belly to help the pain. But that is inconvenient. It is better to wear an abdominal binder or a postpartum belt to keep your incision safe while moving about. It will also promote good posture while breastfeeding, eliminate post-pregnancy stretch marks and speed up getting your body back to pre-pregnancy figure.
  3. Eating high fibre foods - Eat fresh fruits and leafy green vegetables. along with low fat, high protein foods such as lean red meat, fish, skinless chicken, eggs, beans and soy. This will help your body repair itself, fight off wound infections and promote scar healing.
  4. Strengthen lower abdomen by performing this Pelvic Tilt exercise
  • a. Lie on your bed with your knees bent and your heels close to your buttocks.
  • b. Inhale and press your back to the bed. Hold and slowly count to 5 (building up to 10). Concentrate on pressing your back to the bed using your abdominal muscles - but do not push with your feet.
  • c. Relax, then repeat. At first, you may only do a third or half the movement. As you do more, you will be able to tilt more and hold for longer. After a few days, add a pelvic squeeze by tightening your buttock muscles and pelvic floor at the same time (as if to stop urination in midstream).
The most important key to a full recovery is wearing an abdominal binder or postpartum belt. It reduces the pain significantly, and heals your incision more quickly It enables you to move around more easily for doing basic things like changing nappiesand walking. It makes your C Section recovery a breeze. Without proper protecton, sudden movements can cause sharp pain, which may affect your incision from healing properly, and leads to continual pain (on & off) in the long term.
