Acupuncture For Infertility Treatment

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 09:13 AM PST

Acupressure is one of the oldest methods used for treatment of infertility. It has been found that acupuncture can improve and enhance both follicular and ovarian functions and thus treat infertility problems. The lining of the uterus also known as the endometrium benefits from acupressure as it causes the blood flow to increase resulting in a much richer lining. It also has a healing and calming effect on the body as is usually done for at least three to four months before surgeries such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), or donor-egg transfer. Patients are found to be much more relaxed and results have been found to be positive after performing this procedure.

The main principal of acupuncture is that all human beings are made of energy and there are specific points in the human body that are more responsive to stress than others. If at any point of time, energy is unable to flow freely through these specific points, then it might result in several problems such as health conditions and even infertility. To stimulate these points and to rejuvenate them, needles are used which make sure that these points are made active and to establish a free flow of energy. Once these points are active and responding, then it results in a sense of harmony throughout the body and eliminates all illnesses and infertility problems.

A large percentage of miscarriages occur in the first three months of pregnancy, hence in order to make sure that women stay calm and relaxed through the entire course of pregnancy during the course of vitro fertilization (IVF), or donor-egg transfer, acupressure is given from the first week to the twelfth week to prevent miscarriage. It is also very important that the acupressurist does not use needles in the abdomen and pelvic areas during insemination. There are six definite points in the body that should be carefully guarded and should not be used for acupressure when a woman is pregnant. These points include Large Intestine 4, Spleen 6, Gallbladder 21, Stomach 12, Bladder 60 and Bladder 67.

Acupressure is also widely used for infertile treatment. If incorrect acupressure points are used to perform acupressure on a pregnant woman, then there is a great risk of miscarriage. Hence, it is very important that people who want to include acupuncture as a part of their daily or regular regime, even when pregnant should make sure that they get it done only from an acupuncturist who is a specialist in dealing with fertility disorders. All kinds of fertility disorders can be treated with the help of acupuncture. If spasmed tubes are present, then they can be de-spasmed with the help of acupuncture. However, blocked tubes do not react to acupuncture. Usually, both herbs and acupuncture are used as a combination to treat regular loss of pregnancy, increased levels of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), idiopathic infertility, hyperprolactinemia, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and anovulation. Acupuncture is a licensed profession in many of the states in U.S.

What Dads Feel When the Wife Gets Pregnant

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 08:57 AM PST

You come home one day and go to greet your wife or partner. You approach just like any other day in the week. As you get closer you can see that there is something in her eyes. Your not quite sure what it is, but you move closer. Then she hits you with the news. She looks you square in the eye and says she is pregnant.

At this very moment your heart probably started pumping faster. It may have even done a double back flip in your chest. At this point you are probably just a little winded from the news, not being able to catch your breath.

The pure happiness and adrenaline flowing through your veins is something that has never been felt before by you. That is if this is your first baby.

After this first initial shock, The second wave sets in. Now you are thinking about how you are going to support this child. A new human being that you are totally responsible for. You will have to protect, provide and teach this new person that is being brought into this world. A new person that will soon be calling you dad.

Having a baby is a gigantic step into places that you have never been. It can be scary. You will probably wake up during a whole lot of nights with thoughts running through your brain about everything imaginable. You will wonder how your life is going to be different. You will ponder day and night if you are going to be a good dad. You will wonder how the two of you are going to be able to financially swing having a baby. Do not think you are alone in this. Just about every dad on earth (I know from having 3 kids) goes through these emotions. It is perfectly normal.

What You Should Know About Infertility

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 08:47 AM PST

The most important key to maintaining one's fertility and preventing or curing infertility is understanding it. First and foremost, what is infertility. Simply put, infertility is the in inability of a male, female or couple to conceive or bring a pregnancy to its full term, despite having engaged in unprotected intercourse for an entire year.

There are various studies and surveys that have been done on infertility, but it is mostly safe to say that forty percent of infertility cases are due to defects in the female reproductive system, the other forty percent caused by defects in the male reproductive system. Meanwhile, the remaining percentage is attributed to the infertility of both partners.

Most of the time, infertility is attributed to simple things such as the male or female's lifestyle. For example, heavy smokers, drinkers and overweight individuals will be less fertile than those who abstain from smoking, drinking and are at a healthy weight. Meanwhile, being afflicted with a sexually transmitted disease or STD is another cause of infertility.

Having endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome and irregular periods are also a cause of infertility. Age also plays a big factor in fertility especially for females. The female loses around a hundred eggs per month. So over a period of time, the female will have less eggs, and will thus have a harder time conceiving.

Having said that, what can we do to ensure that we remain fertile? The most obvious reason is to be healthy. Having a healthier lifestyle and one that is less stressful will help a lot when trying to conceive. Trying to conceive at a young age for females is also highly recommended.

It also helps to ensure that you are free from any sexually transmitted diseases, therefore having a PAP smear and other tests are essential to ensuring your reproductive health. It is better to have yourself tested every six months with you OB-GYN to determine whether or not there are any irregularities in your organs and hormones. That way, you can easily detect if you are infertile, rather than find out later on when you are married and trying to conceive.

How do you find out if you are infertile? There are several tests that doctors perform in order to find out if the female is infertile. Among them are the hysterosalpingography and laparoscopy. A hysterosalpingography is essentially an x-ray that is performed on the female's uterus and fallopian tubes. The test starts with the OB-GYN introducing a colored dye into the uterus through the female's vagina, making it possible for the doctors to see how the dye moves around the uterus and the fallopian tubes. If there are any obstructions along the way, this will be seen in the x-ray.

On the other hand, a laparoscopy is a minor surgery to see inside the female's abdomen. Here, the doctor makes an incision in the lower abdomen and inserts an instrument called a laparoscope. The laparoscope helps the doctor to examine the female's ovaries, the fallopian tubes and the uterus. Scarring and endometriosis are normally detected by a laparoscopy.

Severe Back Pain During Pregnancy - Causes and Treatment

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 08:28 AM PST

Women often experience severe back pain during pregnancy. Since you are also carrying a baby, you should try to avoid taking medicines as they are likely to have side-effects. In any case, no medicine should be taken without the advice of your doctor.

Causes

A common cause for back pain is the increasing size and weight of the fetus in the womb. The woman has to continuously keep shifting to accommodate the growing demand of the baby for the space.

There may also be a change in the centre of gravity because of the expansion of the abdominal area. These conditions force the woman to assume wrong postures to compensate for the changes in her body leading to the back pain.

Although the abdominal area expands, it is not accompanied by the corresponding increase in the back part of the body. It tends to weigh down the back causing pain.

The escalation in the level of progesterone during pregnancy makes the ligaments and the joints in the pelvic region soft and loose to facilitate the delivery of the baby. This loosening affects the support to the back and causes pain.

Severe back pain may also occur during the last days of pregnancy. The woman may feel extreme pain in the back especially when the delivery date draws closer. While some labor pain may be genuine, it may also be false. You should always consult your gynecologist if you feel acute pain in your back.

Treatment

Always keep correct posture

Always try to keep your posture correct, whether you are sitting, standing or lying. Pull in your buttocks and pull up your shoulders. Always try to stand straight without bending.

Sleep on your sides and not on your back. Keep your knees bent and place one pillow between them and one under your abdomen.

Hot and cold applications

Depending upon your disposition, you may take a bath in warm water tub or place ice packs on your back when you feel pain.

Seek the advice of your health specialist for light pelvic exercises to stay fit.

Although back pain comes naturally with pregnancy, do not take it lightly if it becomes severe and does not go away with the simple methods. Severe back pain may lead to vaginal bleeding. Consult your physician in such circumstances.

Beginning Life, As a Human Being

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 08:20 AM PST

We "all gotta start somewhere" as humans; how we evolve after that is up to us.

The starter kit could be "normal"-5 each fingers and toes, 2 each eyes, ears, nostrils, arms and legs, intake and output organs, etc.-but many start life missing a few parts. Sometimes the crucial missing parts are part of the CPU (brain), or there might be miss-wired sections. If you view the Universe as a Ship-On-Demand center, this starts to make a weird kind of sense.

Since we all come from a Source that our puny little human brains can't begin to comprehend, and that Source is a Creator, then it makes sense that we also create. Then, if you add in the new discoveries in quantum physics, namely that we create as we think, the idea of missing parts starts to make sense.

For example, most mothers and fathers worry about their child having the requisite number of parts, don't they? Well, what if the growing fetus can hear that worry...and the particular parents-to-be in question are obsessive worriers? Add to that the role of the subconscious mind, which functions as slave to the master conscious mind. If that developing fetus has a particularly good subconscious mind, then everything that it hears is accepted as the whole truth. Scary, huh?

So if the accepted truth is about missing parts, or being stupid, or mentally ill, or having some terrible disease, it might actually manifest within that innocent little fetus. When a healthy animal notices its' offspring lacks the qualities to survive, it kills it right away (relax, I'm not advocating killing infants). The animal parent seems to grieve for that one, but once recognized, it ends it.

As human beings (with a supposedly bigger brain and Consciousness), most of us believe in the sanctity of all life, and work to preserve life. It is only the sick, delusioned, and evil people who seek to destroy others. You could say that those are some of the ones who have been miss-wired, either through their genetics or by poisoning themselves (body, mind and spirit).

All you have to do is look around, at our world in turmoil, to see that the lunatics are running the asylum, and they are criminal lunatics at that. Maybe it's time to stop blaming everyone else for what is happening, and take back the reins into our own hands...and put an end to the current insanities. Start with your own mind-stop giving space to the negative thoughts, and allow only the positive, life-affirming thoughts.

The subconscious obeys our every command. What are YOU commanding yours to do?
