What a Paternity Test Means For Both Parents Posted: 31 Jul 2009 09:22 AM PDT An exciting time in anyone's life, child birth can be both a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing because you have a new child, a part of you in another person. It can be a harrowing experience because of the difficulties that go along with child birth. It is important that both parents are committed to the child. Sometimes this does not happen, the father will shy away, which is why a paternity test must be given. Paternity tests are ways to verify the said parents of the child are the actual parents. Most of the time it is because the father does not want to have to take care of the child, whether it is financial reasons or he is not ready for one. The paternity test will verify his relation to the child, and is accurate around 99% of the time. Getting the DNA from the father can be a tricky job. Avoiding it is not an option for him though. If he refuses a paternity test, he can be jailed for a certain amount of time. They will get the DNA from him using a buccal swab, where they use cotton swab to swab the inside of your cheek. This will get the DNA from the father in a harmless fashion. Getting the DNA from the child will be trickier. If you want the DNA before birth, then it will be a little trickier. The procedure has been perfected so that there is no chance of injury to the child. The doctor takes a needle and puts it into the womb and from there takes out some cells. These cells contain the DNA of the child and will be used in the test. Once the DNA is taken from both father and child, it is sent to a lab. The lab will test the DNA and in 48 hours will get a result back to the parents. These may be some of the toughest 48 hours in both of the parents' life as it should be. The results will permanently change 3 people's lives, and one person isn't necessarily born yet. Once the results come in, and it has been determined that the father is indeed the father, it is time for him to take some responsibility. Most of the time, after the father has been determined, they will want to take an active role in their child's life. They will want to be there for their first play recital, first word and other first's in the child's life. This will make it easier on both the mother and the child, giving them time to relax and to enjoy their lives outside of the family. If the father does not want to be part of the child's life, there are still rules that he has to follow. He must pay child support to the family so that the entire financial burden is not on the wife. His revenue will be stipend so that there is enough to pay for the kid's food and education. In the end it will be better for the kid. Determining the child's parents is necessary for everyone involved. The kid will have a better life because he will have two people looking out for him. The parents will feel better about the kid and giving them every opportunity that they can. The family dynamics will be better for everyone involved. Parenting is a big responsibility, but it is your duty to give your kid the best life possible. ![]() |
What Are the Features of a Designer Maternity Bra and How Should I Choose One? Posted: 31 Jul 2009 09:17 AM PDT In what is a wonderfully exciting time full of lots of changes to your body and anticipation at the coming event, there are some less exciting aspects to pregnancy. Some can be avoided! I dreaded the necessity of wearing a dull maternity bra when my bust increased at around the end of the first trimester. However I did finally have the opportunity to wear gorgeous, feminine maternity bras which made all the difference - and my body thanked me for it too! Designer maternity bras do look gorgeous, they use luxurious fabrics, are fashion forward and feminine but above all afford your body the comfort and room for expansion which will be necessary. Too many people just drag their old, stretched bras from the back of their drawers to get them through their pregnancy. I recommend a visit to a professional bra fitter - your pregnancy lingerie should be something you purchase as soon as you notice a change in comfort and fit with your regular lingerie. It will take you beyond the birth of your baby if you buy well. Maternity bras typically have openings at the top of the cup to allow for easy opening at feed times. Make sure the bra you choose has an easy to open maternity clip and that you can carry out this manoeuvre one handed. Making the choice to wear pregnancy lingerie during your pregnancy means you will be provided with excellent support and flexibility - your bust does increase and sometimes significantly. Depending on the development of your bust size you should be fitted again at approximately seven months, however if you feel your bra is restrictive in any way, make sure you get checked straight away. Your maternity bra should give you the same shape and bust profile of a well fitted regular bra. The designer aspect of it means that you will feel fabulous and that the bra is expertly designed. New Zealand maternity lingerie designer Cassie Sweden is adamant maternity bras should not have underwires. "Underwires can restrict the growth and changes in breast size and shape during pregnancy and milk flow during breast feeding, which may in turn cause conditions such as mastitis." Having personally experienced the difference in wearing gorgeous, well designed maternity bras, I would certainly not go back. There are a number of important considerations in choosing a maternity bra. Make sure it is lined with soft cotton and with seams constructed to ensure no rubbing or chafing. The back panels of the bra should incorporate strong power elastane for extra support. Wider straps and back adjusters ensure superior fits for larger sizes. Multiple rows of eyes at the back - six would be best - provides for expansion in the diaphragm. And don't forget the designer element when you're making your choice! Fabrics and laces which are carefully chosen to provide maximum support and comfort for your maternity bra, should also be complemented by exquisite matching underwear. I know you will feel feminine and sophisticated when you too wear this luxurious lingerie. ![]() |

Ways to Conceive a Girl - 3 Tips You Must Know to Have a Baby Girl Posted: 31 Jul 2009 09:13 AM PDT There are many different ways to conceive a girl and while there procedures such as artificial insemination, they tend to be extremely costly. Fortunately, there are natural methods that you can implement to increase your chances. Here are 3 tips that you must know if you intend on having a baby girl with your partner. 1. The sperm ultimately determines the baby's gender Before getting started, it's important to note that the gender of the baby is ultimately decided the sperm as it carries the necessary genes. For example, if you want a girl then the sperm with the X chromosome will need to reach and fertilize the egg before the Y chromosome. Knowing this, you will need to create a reproductive environment that is favorable to the sperm carrying the female gene. 2. Implement the Shettles methods One of the most popular methods to conceiving a girl is the use of the Shettles method which says to time intercourse several days prior to ovulation. This works by creating a favorable environment for the female sperm as it makes it less likely that the male sperm will survive by the time the egg is ready. In addition, the woman should not orgasm as this releases fluids in the womb that reduces acidic levels. 3. Increase acidic levels of the woman's womb The higher the acidic levels, the more likely you will have a baby girl while significantly reducing the chances that the male sperm will fertilize the egg. This can be done by douching prior to intercourse as this helps to increase acidic levels or by also consuming foods high in magnesium and calcium. Be sure to make use of pH test strips to track and monitor any changes. These natural methods have proved extremely successful for thousands of couples around the world without the need for expensive medical treatments. Be sure to remain patient throughout the process as you only have one shot at this. ![]() |
